I am writing to invite your young members and friends to apply for the Think Outside the Bomb National Conference to take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico this August 13-16. For five years, Think Outside the Bomb has brought young people together to share resources, strategize collaboratively, and build a widespread movement for nuclear disarmament. More than simply educating students on nuclear issues, we aim to engage every single participant intellectually, emotionally, and personally. We seek to give each participant not only the inspiration to work for a nuclear-free future for the coming year, but the tools and skills to do that work and the opportunity and camaraderie to start this organizing.

Next meeting of the organizing committee for the Boston October 17 antiwar mobilization.    Info:  Cole Harrison or Shelagh Foreman.

Visit the mobilization's web site.

Start: 8:00 pm

In an effort to build international solidarity with the Palestinian people, the Viva Palestina humanitarian aid convoy succeeded in breaking the siege of Gaza. Over 90% of those killed from Israel’s recent invasion of Gaza were civilians, and the ongoing blockade is preventing basic necessities such as medical supplies and food from entering Gaza. At the same time, Palestinians in the West Bank also continue to suffer daily from the brutal Israeli occupation, which is supported by billions of US taxpayer dollars every year.

Come hear four activists who recently returned from Gaza and the West Bank speak about conditions on the ground and what we can do to build a solidarity movement.    Featuring local activists who just returned from Gaza and the West Bank: Tom Arabia, Gerard “Hozz” Hosman, Khury Peterson-Smith, and Madeline Burrows.

FIXER: THE TAKING OF AJMAL NAQSHBANDI begins with the relationship between Naqshbandi, a young Afghan journalist, translator and coordinator, and one of his clients, Christian Parenti, an American journalist (and one of the film's producers). Over the course of six months, their paths converge, and then separate. Naqshbandi is subsequently kidnapped by Taliban forces, along with Italian reporter Daniele Mastrogiacomo and Afghan driver Sayed Agha, who is immediately beheaded. As foreign powers increase pressure to bring a fast resolution to the kidnapping, the Afghan government bungles its response, leaving Naqshbandi's family with mounting frustration. The Taliban release Mastrogiacomo after weeks in captivity, but Naqshbandi is later killed.

During the months of August and September we will be showing the
Robert Greenwald documentary, "Rethink Afghanistan" at locations all

the consequences of U.S. policy and the recent troop escalation that
all Americans need to consider. Greenwald and his crew made several
visits to Afghanistan, most recently in March of 2009, and interviewed
many Afghan civilians as well as U.S. and Afghan political leaders and
foreign policy experts. If you are interested in hosting a showing in

United for Justice with Peace is a sponsor of this important event kicking off a fall schedule (Sept. 2, Sept. 24-25, Oct. 1, Oct. 17 and Oct. 24) calling for peace, a moratorium on home foreclosures and evictions, jobs, and a serious focus on climate change, renewable energy and green jobs. Let’s make sure that as many of us from UJP as possible join City Life and Jobs with Justice to attend this protest of Deutche Bank’s feasting and golfing at the same time that it forces our neighbors out of their homes.
