Ralph Nader book talk Start: 2:00 pm Ralph Nader will be on a book signing tour in Connecticut and Boston this week. Ralph will be speaking and holding Q/A sessions about single payer national health insurance. And he'll be signing his new book -- his first book of fiction -- Only the Super-Rich Can Save Us! (Seven Stories Press, 2009). A Woman Among Warlords Start: 2:30 pm End: 3:30 pm Malalai Joya, the young woman who the BBC has hailed as the "bravest in Afghanistan", has published her memoirs, A Woman Among Warlords: The Extraordinary Story of an Afghan Woman Who Dared to Speak Out. Joya, now 31, was the youngest ever woman elected to the Afghan Parliament in 2005 and is an outspoken critic of the Karzai government and NATO occupation. She will be speaking in the Boston area between October 29-31 as part of a North American tour to speak about her new memoir, co-written with Canadian activist and writer Derrick O’Keefe. Gladys was kidnapped and tortured in March 2009. Gladys is touring various U.S. cities with the Guatemala Human Rights Commission/USA to speak out on violence and impunity in Guatemala, and the need for immigration reform here in the U.S. ?I speak out in order to break the silence and impunity, to put an end to the uncontrollable violence in Guatemala that forces thousands to migrate to the US,? she said.
