Last August, Hyatt fired the entire housekeeping departments of its three
Boston-area hotels. Many of the fired housekeepers had worked at their
hotels for over 20 years. Some workers were required to train their
replacements.
The "Hyatt 100" have been running an aggressive boycott campaign that has
moved over $2 million in meetings business from the three Boston Hyatts.
While the Boston Hyatts have lost significant business, in Cambridge,
reservations have recently been on the rise. It's time to show the
Cambridge Hyatt that business as usual is no longer possible.

First Anniversary Celebration and New Member Meeting
MetroWest Peace Action formed a year ago this month as a coalition of suburban groups working for pece and justice. Through information sharing, moving vigils and combined energies we have, I hoped, raised the level of discussion and exposure and met some wonderful new partners.
On Feb. 20th we will meet to review the past year and plan for the future. At the same time we would like to encourage people to come and say hello and perhaps join us as we work nonviolently for a better world.

Her 2 youngest children are still missing, and she and her oldest son were handed over to the U.S. and secretly imprisoned in Afghanistan for 5 years.
Since 2003, sister Aafia has been caged in solitary confinement, shot, and severely abused.

AFSC will sponsor an open conference call briefing with Zia Mian on Pakistan. He will explain the relationship between the wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan, how they relate to the decades old India-Pakistan conflict, the roles of the United States, and how to move toward a comprehensive peace settlement.
When President Obama announced the sending of an additional 30,000 US troops to the war in Afghanistan he named Pakistan as a key partner in the war effort. He challenged the government of this nuclear power, which is consumed in a civil war to assist the US military, NATO forces and the Government of Afghanistan in destroying a Taliban network.

It is fighting to safeguard its land, its olive trees, its resources… its liberty. By annexing close to 60% of Bil’in land for Israeli settlements and the construction of Israel’s separation wall, the state of Israel is strangling the village. Supported by Israeli and international activists, Bil’in residents peacefully demonstrate every Friday in front of the “work-site of shame”. Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) is an annual international series of events held in cities and campuses across the globe. The aim of IAW is to educate people about the nature of Israel as an apartheid system and to build Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaigns as part of a growing global BDS movement. Last year, more than 40 cities around the world participated in the week's activities, which took place in the wake of Israel's brutal assault against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
