Physicians for Human Rights is thrilled to invite you to: Physicians for Human Rights National Conference *Health and Human Rights in 2010*
Physicians, nurses and public health specialists in the U.S. and abroad face a daunting task: building, and often rebuilding, health systems that are accessible to all; fighting infectious pandemics like HIV/AIDS; preventing and treating disease; providing humanitarian relief to people facing natural or man-made disasters; and more.
The last 20 years have shown the world that brilliant bio-medical advances cannot alone bring health to the world's poorest people. Medicine must go hand-in-hand with human rights to eliminate health disparities and ensure a healthy population.

AFSC will sponsor an open conference call briefing with Zia Mian on Pakistan. He will explain the relationship between the wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan, how they relate to the decades old India-Pakistan conflict, the roles of the United States, and how to move toward a comprehensive peace settlement.
When President Obama announced the sending of an additional 30,000 US troops to the war in Afghanistan he named Pakistan as a key partner in the war effort. He challenged the government of this nuclear power, which is consumed in a civil war to assist the US military, NATO forces and the Government of Afghanistan in destroying a Taliban network.

Come see a screening of the documentary, "Bil'in Habibti" directed by Israeli activist and filmmaker Shai Pollak. Bil’in is a Palestinian village that is struggling to exist. It is fighting to safeguard its land, its olive trees, its resources… its liberty. By annexing close to 60% of Bil’in land for Israeli settlements and the construction of Israel’s separation wall, the state of Israel is strangling the village. Supported by Israeli and international activists, Bil’in residents peacefully demonstrate every Friday in front of the “work-site of shame”. And every Friday the Israeli army responds with violence, both physically and psychologically.

Higher education is indispensable to the development, continuance, and refinement of both democracy and the modern economy. It was for this reason that higher education, like primary and secondary education before it, was made public in the first place.
We believe that STUDENTS ARE NOT CUSTOMERS. Rather, they are society's most valuable cultural, political, and ECONOMIC INVESTMENTS. For every $1 the state of Massachusetts invests in public higher education, it recieves $8 back in economic growth.
