Rally on the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day

International Women's Day March

The Greater Boston chapter of Code Pink Women for Peace invites you and all who yearn for an end to war to celebrate the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day by rallying and marching for peace.

We propose the following theme: Bread and Peace--Women Say NO to War!

Plan: Rally at Copley Square at 1pm (begin to gather starting at noon), march to Park Street T at 2, end with a brief silent vigil to mourn the dead and a final call to action before dispersing.

Endorsed by Raging Grannies, Women's Fightback Network, and United for Justice with Peace.

On this day, we will celebrate our creativity and diversity with music, singing, dancing, with beautiful images, inspiring words of power from women past and present. We envision a rainbow coalition in motion, circles moving to the rhythm of a drum. We will fill the heart of the city with joyful, life-affirming energy.

We will demand an end to war and to the squandering of our resources on war and those who profit from it. We will demand an end to the horrors of ever-escalating local and global violence in all its vile and loathsome forms. We will proclaim our strength and solidarity, our fierce determination to wage peace.

By observing International Women’s Day, we will honor a long international tradition of women’s vibrant and vital political engagement in antiwar protest and mass actions for social justice; by rallying and marching for “peace and bread” here in Boston, we are acting in solidarity with our sisters all over the world

Arm in arm with men of peace, we will demand for all the world’s people the right to a clean environment, universal health care, nutritious food and decent housing, education not indoctrination, meaningful jobs, the time to love and nurture one another, to rest and reflect, to create a civilized society.

We are the majority. Together, we can do it.

If you are interested in sponsoring and participating, whether as individual or organization, please let us know by emailing iwdbos.sr@gmail.com.

Thank you for your participation and solidarity.
