Four Corners Block Rebellion Against Foreclosures and Evictions

*WALKING TOUR AND VIDEO INTERVENTION FOLLOWED BY FOOD AND MUSIC*

*On March 13th, We are Taking a Bite out of Bank Crime!*

The rebellion will begin at 21 Bollard St. at 5:00 with a walking tour of foreclosed homes, with tenants and owners speaking in front of their homes. The tour will end back at 21 Bollard where there will be food and music. Once the sun goes down there will be a *block-wide video intervention *entitled *72 Hours* homes in the neighborhood will have their windows lit up with shadow projections evoking the lives of former residents. In addition, one vacant home will be opened for a sound installation to which visitors will be invited.

City Life/Vida Urbana and Greater Four Corners Action Coalition are kicking off a block rebellion in the Four Corners neighborhood of Dorchester that will continue until the banks meets our demands.

* Banks must stop all post-foreclosure eviction. Accept residents
offer to pay rent.

* Begin negotiations to sell unsold units or buildings to former
owners at real value or to occupants as a cooperative.
*Banks are Committing Crimes in Our Neighborhoods!*
* The Banks have _refused to do meaningful loan modifications_,
driving our neighbors into foreclosure. The Fed reports that only
3% of borrowers behind by 60 days got loan mods!

* Banks have routinely _evicted thousands_ of Boston residents after
foreclosure, all /no-fault/ evictions. Banks sought to evict over
4000 people /no-fault/ in Boston in 2008. Many residents living in
Four Corners are threatened in this way.


*About 72 Hours*

/72 Hours/ is an audiovisual intervention developed by John Hulsey and Ilaria Minio Paluello in collaboration with City Life/Vida Urbana. The project seeks to breach open debate about the lived calamities of the foreclosure crisis, raise public attention about foreclosure, and put public pressure on property-owning banks to resell homes at current real value. 72 /Hours/ thrusts individual stories into the public eye by occupying a neighborhood in Boston that has suffered heavily during the financial crisis. Transforming the private neighborhood into a public space, the projected images and sounds create an arena for dialogue, debate, experience, resistance, and action.
