A Workshop
How Can We Save Our Schools, Libraries and Services? By Reducing Military Spending 25%
with Mike Prokosch and Barry Rafkind

I Want Education Not WarOur community faces a multi-million dollar budget deficit and must make severe cuts in our town services including education, libraries, youth and senior services, firefighters, police and libraries for FY 2011.

At the same time, Arlington taxpayers will spend $169.3 million on the military this fiscal year. A 25% reduction in defense spending could provide Arlington with more than $42 million! – far more than our $3.5 million budget shortfall!

Join us on May 8, let us know how you would like the government to spend your money and learn what we can do about it.

“If we are not able to get military spending under control…we will not be able to respond to important domestic needs.” – Congressman Barney Frank

Mike Prokosch is a long time peace activist, workshop leader, economics educator and a United for a Fair Economy board member. Barry Rafkind is a member of Somerville-Medford United for Justice with Peace. Both are with the Fund Our Communities, Reduce Military Spending 25% campaign. www.25percentsolution.org
