O'Leary, D'Alessandro Feature Antiwar Message in Primary Fights

In the two contested Democratic primaries for U.S. House of Representatives seats in Massachusetts, challengers are emphasizing similar antiwar messages in their attempt to win nominations September 14.

In the open District 10 (Quincy, South Shore, Cape Cod) seat being vacated by Rep. Delahunt, Rob O’Leary’s first TV ad focuses on “the need to end the war in Afghanistan and put the resources being spent there to work creating jobs here in the United States.” View the ad here.

In District 9 (Dorchester, West Roxbury, Needham, Norwood, Brockton), incumbent Stephen Lynch is being challenged by Mac D’Alessandro. D’Alessandro’s newest brochure, which shows Lynch wearing an elephant's ears and trunk, makes four points on which he differs from Lynch, one of which is : “Bring our troops home as soon and as safely as possible so we can focus on rebuilding our own economy.” The other three: “Jump start job creation…. Defend health care reform… Protect a woman’s right to choose.” The brochure complains that Lynch “Keeps on voting to spend billions on war, not jobs at home”.
