Boycott Motorola Weekly Action

When: Thursday, June 18, 2009, 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm
Where: Downtown Crossing • corner of Washington Street and Bromfield Street • Boston
2009 Jun 18 - 12:30pm
2009 Jun 18 - 1:30pm

(Please note the NEW location--we're moving to the Verizon store to protest their recent promotion of free Motorola phones.)

Please support the call from Palestine to participate in B/D/S work, and help put consumer pressure on Motorola to stop aiding Israeli apartheid and profiting from Israel's war crimes.

We'll be standing out in front of the store educating people about Israeli apartheid, and asking consumers who frequent the store to boycott Motorola products. Our aim is not to block traffic in and out of the store, but rather to persuade the store's customers and staff members to participate in our boycott.

Please note our action schedule for the upcoming month; we've added new downtown standouts! Now you can help the boycott campaign during your work day, not just on weekends:

Saturday June 13 Harvard Square 1-2pm

Thursday June 18 Downtown Crossing (corner of Washington Street and Bromfield Street) 12:30-1:30pm

Saturday June 20 Coolidge Corner 1-2pm

Thursday June 25 Downtown Crossing (corner of Washington Street and Bromfield Street) 12:30-1:30pm

Saturday June 27 Harvard Square 1-2pm

Come help encourage Coolidge Corner, Harvard Square, Downtown Crossing, America, and the world to boycott Motorola! Bring your friends!

(See below for more information on why Motorola is our target.)

 Why Motorola?.

Communication Devices for Occupation:

Motorolas $100 million Mountain Rose communication system enhances the efficiency of Israeli occupying forces. Patterns of human rights violations in the Occupied Palestinian include, but are not limited to, the killing and injuring of civilians, torture, extra-judicial assassinations, deliberate destruction of civilian infrastructure, acts of collective punishment and economic warfare.

Surveillance Devices for Israels Illegal Wall:

Motorola supplies the Wide Area Surveillance System (WAAS) to monitor

and maintain Israels illegal wall constructed in violation of the July 2004

International Court of Justice (ICJ) advisory opinion. This wall is perhaps the

strongest symbol of Israeli Apartheid, carving the West Bank into Bantustans.

Surveillance Devices for Israels Illegal Settlements:

Motorola has made $93 million providing radar detection devices and thermal cameras for 47 illegal Israeli settlements on Palestinian land. Israels confiscation of Palestinian land, illegal settlements, illegal wall, and continued occupation would not be possible without Motorola's compliance.

In the past, Motorola has yielded to public pressure and stopped it's cooperation with human rights abusing regimes in South Africa and Burma. Recently, in response to our boycott, Motorola sold its subsidiary Motorola Israel, the company that manufactures bomb fuses that kill Palestinians. We can draw from this legacy to end Motorolas current support for Israeli apartheid.  Keep up the good work, everyone!
