From the “Surge” to the Streets: Iraq Veteran Josh Stieber Tells His Story

When: Tuesday, June 30, 2009, 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm
Where: AFSC • 2161 Mass. Ave. • Cambridge
2009 Jun 30 - 6:00pm
2009 Jun 30 - 8:30pm

Please come meet Iraq veteran and Conscientious Objector Josh Stieber.

Josh Steiber is a combat veteran who became a Conscientious Objector after
being part of the recent "surge" in Iraq. To spread his message of cooperation and understanding instead of military occupation, Josh began a peace walk that departed from Washington, D.C. on Memorial Day.

He is now traveling across the country -- by foot, bike, and bus -- to speak with
communities everywhere about the reality of the war, his experience as a
soldier, and the responsibilities we all have to those who are affected by
the U.S. occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Please join us on Tuesday, June 30th, to welcome Josh as he comes to Cambridge and to hear his stories about his experience of war and his journey of peace. His talk promises to take us beyond the sound-bites about the wars and the surge, to engage us in a timely, thoughtful conversation about issues that are increasingly overlooked in the media.

Refreshments and an informal reception will be from 6:00 to 6:30, and the presentation and discussion with Josh will begin at 6:30. The event is free and open to the public -- all are welcome. RSVPs are appreciated, but not required: members@masspeaceaction.org or 617.354.2169.  The flyer for the June 30th event in Cambridge is attached.

Hope you can join us and spread the word! We are also arranging media and
other events for Josh, his schedule permitting. Please let me know if you
have any ideas or would like to set something up.
