Boston City Councillors Charles C. Yancey and Chuck Turner will host summits regarding the federal stimulus funds for the City of Boston and the federal stimulus funds for the State of Massachusetts. The Summits will provide opportunity for residents to have their questions regarding stimulus funds answered by City and State officials.

COUNCILLORS YANCEY AND TURNER HOST TWO STIMULUS SUMMITS IN JULY

Boston City Hall (July 2, 2009) – The offices of City Councillors Charles C. Yancey and Chuck Turner are hosting two Summits: One regarding the federal stimulus funds for the State of Massachusetts and another regarding the federal stimulus funds for the City of Boston.

The first Summit, Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Jeremiah E. Burke High School (Auditorium) 60 Washington Street in Dorchester, will provide an overview of the efforts of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in implementing the federal stimulus. 

The second Summit, Tuesday, July 14, 2009, 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Jeremiah E. Burke High School (Auditorium) 60 Washington Street in Dorchester, will feature reports from City of Boston departments that have received federal stimulus funds.

President Barack Obama signed the The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 into law on February 17, 2009. The Act, which is worth $787 billion, includes federal tax relief, expansion of unemployment benefits and other social welfare provisions, and domestic spending in education, health care, and infrastructure, including the energy sector.
