Fundraising Event for the Children of Swat

According to NY Times, 2 million people became refugees inside Pakistan when the operation against the Taliban in Swat, Pakistan was launched aggressively about 3 months ago. They are living in tent camps, in over 100 degree temperatures, and lacking food, medicines, water. These numbers begin to approach the numbers of Afghan’s who fled the Soviet invasion to come to Pakistan as refugees.

FUNDRAISING EVENT FOR THE CHILDREN OF SWAT

On behalf of The Association of Pakistani Physicians of New England-APPNE.

We would like to extend an invitation to you to attend our Fundraising Event for the Swat IDPs on Saturday July 18th 2009 in Boston.

Congressman John F. Tierney of MA has consented to be the keynote speaker at the event.

The New England area has many people from NWFP and FATA whose families have been directly affected by this crisis.

We would be honored if you would participate and contribute.

APPNE is attempting to raise $60,000 for IDPs to support 2 camps for 2 months through direct medical relief and Mobile medical units already in place in Peshawar.

Funds will be sent directly to our partners on the ground and doctors from Khyber Medical University, Peshawar.

100% of the collection will go to IDPs thru our parent organization APPNA- Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America.
