Dear Friends,
During the months of August and September we will be showing the
Robert Greenwald documentary, "Rethink Afghanistan" at locations all
around the state. This documentary raises critical questions about
the consequences of U.S. policy and the recent troop escalation that
all Americans need to consider. Greenwald and his crew made several
visits to Afghanistan, most recently in March of 2009, and interviewed
many Afghan civilians as well as U.S. and Afghan political leaders and
foreign policy experts. If you are interested in hosting a showing in
your community please contact me at susi@nhpeaceaction.org or call our
office at 603-228-0559. We are hoping that people will share this
documentary through house parties, church groups, local political
groups, movie nights, school groups and peace vigils. It is important
to remind people that this conflict is about to enter its 8th year,
and that the people of Afghanistan deserve resolution, peace and
security.
We have two upcoming showings scheduled on August 5th and August 20th.
Please note that the date and time for the August 20th event in
Manchester has changed slightly from other emails. The details of
these events are as follows:
August 5th: HANCOCK at the Hancock Town Library, 25 Main Street at 7:00 pm.
August 20th: MANCHESTER at the Manchester Unitarian Universalist
Church, 669 Union Street at 6:30 pm.
NH Peace Action has a list of friends and members who have volunteered
to help lead the post film discussions for hosts who wish to schedule
a discussion. Dr. Tom Lee, author of *Battlebabble: Selling War in
America*, and Will Thomas, Chairman of New Hampshire Veterans for
Peace, will be facilitating the discussion in Manchester, and Dr. Lee
will also be in Hancock. Please contact me to schedule a facilitator.
