October 3 conference

Reminders to all task forces to prepare their reports.

October 7 - Afghanistan war anniversary

Proposed that 2-3 community groups join together to sponsor a vigil.   Referred to the community brunch.  [At the brunch CUJP proposed flyering at T stops and this seems to be the current direction]

October 17 - Mobilization

We discussed UJP presence at the mobilization.

- We want an updated UJP brochure which can be used on Oct 17 as well as over the next year.   It would be tri-fold format.   Duncan to work on the text, and wants someone to help him.   After we have the text we will look for graphic help.

- We need a coordinator for the table and people to staff it.

- We should order buttons

- We considered ordering banners, or a tent like MVPP has to make the table more attractive

Gaza March

We gave UJP's endorsement of the Gaza Freedom March

Counter Recruitment

There was a brief discussion of counter recruitment work.   Paul is to check for who is interested.

Finance Report

Duncan (treasurer) reported that the account balance was $5330 in January 09 and was $3507 on August 1, 09.

Monthly expenses include rent $100 and phone $150; sustainer income is $140, so we lose $100 a month.   The meeting resolved to seriously look into ways to cut the phone expense, perhaps by sharing with AFSC.

One-time expenses this year have been $600 for buses to April 4 in NYC, $425 for 25% solution brochures, and a $100 contribution to the Friends Center due to our meetings there (which is to be paid now).

We sent out a fundraising letter during the meeting.

We decided to reach out to Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, and Angela Davis for possible fund-raisers in the spring.
