The forces at work in Vietnam were nationalist in nature. We were fighting a nationalist movement. That is to say, Vietnam wasn't fighting for communism, but instead were fighting so they could be Vietnam for the Vietnamese, to really understand Vietnam you need to understand the history of French Colonialism. Afghanistan is completely different, we're dealing with Valleyism, which is to say we're trying to take control of a region which has hundreds of small local provincial government, all of which are acting independently. So naturally trying to fight a war in Afghanistan like we'd fight a war in say...Vietnam won't work. Because we're fighting a hundred Wars at once. Frankly, Afghanistan more closely resembles Italy than Vietnam.

No more War? Humans would need to cease to exist for such a thing to occur. Nice pipe-dream though... Hey they had pipes in Vietnam! Coincidence? I think not.
