Peace Organizing in a Time of Economic Crisis
Where: The Democracy Center • 45 Mt. Auburn St. • Cambridge
We invite the UJP community to gather and discuss peace organizing in a time of economic crisis, at our February strategy conference. RSVP here!

In our first segment, Boston City Councillor Chuck Turner will speak about the domestic situation during the Obama presidency, addressing questions like the impact of the economic disaster on people of color and working people, disappointment in Obama, and how does having Obama as president impact our ability and willingness to protest and advocate for real change.
Maryam Shansab, an Afghan-American Tufts graduate student, will discuss the war in Afghanistan in the context of U.S. foreign policy, and how to build support against the war.
Based on their remarks we will continue the discussion of peace movement strategy which we began at our special meeting at the AFSC office on January 13.
In the second segment, Mike Prokosch will present a workshop on behalf of the campaign to cut the military budget and fund our communities.
The final segment will consist of updates from the Nuclear Abolition, Palestine, Afghanistan, and Legislative Action task forces, and presentations by the Online Organizing Committee and the Majority Agenda Project.
Join us for an important and stimulating conversation about our work to build the peace movement. RSVP here so we know how many people to expect!
