Drone Protest at Park Street

A dozen activists braved the cold on the Boston Common March 21, 2015 to raise their voices against US drone warfare, on the 12th anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq, as part of the nation-wide "Spring Rising."

They held photos of victims of drone attacks and told the stories of civilians caught up in a worldwide conflict with highly imprecise weapons.

Speakers related that over 3,000 people have been killed by unmanned aerial vehicles in the last decade including many civilians, thoroughly terrorizing whole communities and increasing, rather than decreasing, terrorism.

The arms race in drones started by the US is likely to hurt us, with 24 countries now possessing weaponized drones, including China that has a lot of them.

Michael Borkson reported on the protest for Indymedia and two reporters from Emerson TV, WEBN, also came.

The rally was called by the Eastern Massachusetts Anti-Drones Network, a task force of UJP, in collaboration with the Committee for Peace and Human Rights.
