No War on Iran Rally

When: Friday, August 3, 2018, 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Where: Kendall Square T station • 167 Pemberton St • Cambridge

No War With Iran

As President Trump ramps up the rhetoric on Iran, threatening “consequences the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered before”, it is worth asking whether the American people would welcome yet another military quagmire – as in Afghanistan and Iraq and indirectly in Syria and Yemen – or if Americans would prefer diplomacy and talks.

It is bad enough that the Trump administration pulled out of the nuclear deal with Iran, an agreement that included European allies, was endorsed by the UN, and embraced by the vast majority of Iranians who seek normalized relations with the U.S.  Let’s note that the nuclear agreement – formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA – has a strict inspections regime of the sort that the North Koreans have not yet agreed to.

And now, President Trump threatens Iran with war. This is reckless and irresponsible, and we urge all our fellow citizens to contact your representatives, urging support for the JCPOA and the resumption of diplomacy to ease the tensions.
