President Obama promised to bring troops home from Afghanistan starting in July 2011.   He has yet to announce how many troops he will withdraw and how fast the withdrawal will proceed.

Senator John Kerry is chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.  He is in position to bring the Afghanistan War to an end if he exerts his influence.   But so far he has only enabled more troop increases, more violence and more corruption and waste.

Join UJP, Mass. Peace Action, and Veterans for Peace at a Brown Bag Vigil to bring the troops and war money home. 

The vigil will be held downstairs from Sen. John Kerry's office.

International Women's Day, Boston Common, March 5, 2011 Greater Boston Codepink and Women's International League for Peace and Freedom - Boston Branch held an International Women's Day rally yesterday to bring our war $$$ home at the Massachusetts State House. With Congress at home for August recess, it's time to turn the focus to jobs and peace, not cuts.  Senator Kerry needs to know that we want him to focus on restoring the economy by creating jobs and ending the wars, not making more cuts to vital programs. Progressives nationwide have already had an impact early on during the recess—now it's up to us to keep after Senator Kerry!

Budget for All Potluck & Strategy Brainstorm

Budget for All had a great Tax Day action on April 12 with 25 speakers and 160 participants, and we continue to push our State House resolutions, H.3211 and S.1750.
 
What comes next?   We will hold a one-time social / strategizing gathering June 2 to reconnect, brainstorm and figure out how push our agenda going forward.
 
We will hold a potluck supper and social time 6:30 - 7:30 followed by a brainstorm meeting 7:30 - 9:00.
